This blogger has usually made it a point not to attack other websites, as that rapidly gets boring and unimportant. But this item is just so out there...

After revelations that the "reporter" from Talon News, a front operation for Texas Republicans and conduit for White House leaks, was(is?) a male prostitute; one with inside connections to the White House -- as a former Reagan/Bush official wrote, "If Gannon was using an alias, White House staff had to be involved in maintaining his cover" -- we now have the official response of FreeRepublic.com, where Gannon/Guckert was a poster and frequent object of fawning. Check this out, posted the morning of Friday, Feb. 18:

Chapter of Free Republic, an independent grassroots organization, will be holding a demonstration at the White House this evening in support of former Talon News White House Correspondent Jeff Gannon and the rights of other reporters to do their jobs without fear of being destroyed by the political establishment.

What was done to Mr. Gannon was the Clinton impeachement era Ellen Romesch strategy played out for all concerned parties to see. The D.C. Chapter of Free Republic will be out demonstrating for the rights of Mr. Gannon and all other reporters to exercise their rights without fear of personal destruction.

Now, I don't know WTF the "Clinton impeachment era Ellen Romesch strategy" is, but I do know Ellen Romesch was an East German spy who was having intercourse with then-President John F. Kennedy. Is FreeRepublic's DC Chapter head implying Gannon was banging George W. Bush? Or is he just smoking crack?

Another FreeRepublic poster, apparently still bearing at least one thread of sanity, pointed out in a follow-up, "Meeting at the 'Monica Gate' is very appropriate if you are going to defend this guy."

During the Clinton administration, FreeRepublic.com was the leading site on the net for citizen research of the corrupt government, but over the course of 2001 it rapidly degenerated into a shill/psy-op site with strings apparently pilled by plugged-in RNC and ADL types.
