Total411.info recently received a message from a "Features" reporter at the Des Moines Register working on a story about the "Gannon/Gosch conspiracy theory" and "why people are interested" in this "rumor." Johnny Gosch was working as a Des Moines Register paperboy when he was kidnapped in 1982.

Here is the open response sent to the reporter:

I have been aware of the Johnny Gosch story for some time now, due to the work former Nebraska state Sen. John DeCamp's work regarding the Franklin cover-up.

I watched the Gannon-is-Gosch story percolate for about a week on the 'net, paying particular attention to the work of posters on the Democratic Underground site, and that of longtime Chicago-based court reformer Sherman Skolnick. The synchronicites in the case were and are stunning, not the least of which being the concordance between the name "Jeff Gannon" and that of James Gannon, the former editor of your paper who behaved shamefully, and indeed perhaps criminally, after his own paperboy was kidnapped. But it was not until "Jeff Gannon" himself referenced Hunter Thompson on www.jeffgannon.com , that I decided to publish anything to the web about Gosch as Gannon.

Beyond that, the work at www.total411.info and www.libertythink.com speaks for itself. To say anything more would only be feeding the meme that there is nothing here but "wacky bloggers" and "crazy conspiracy theorists," which I fear is what a "Features" story would be -- a puff-piece-cum-hit-piece

I suggest you try to write a serious story on this matter and utilize your reportorial acumen to contact people who have been intimately involved with the Gosch investigation for several years, such as:

-- John DeCamp, an attorney and former state senator who conducted for the state of Nebraska an investigation into the pedohile/intelligence ring that Gosch was kidnapped into. Mr. DeCamp is still in Nebraska.

-- Ted Gunderson, former Special Agent in Charge of the Los Angeles office. Gunderson is still based in Los Angeles.

-- James Rothstein, former NYPD detective. You should be able to contact Mr. Rothstein through Colorado-based radio-talk-show host Michael Corbin ( www.4acloserlook.com ).

-- Noreen Gosch herself, whose contact information including phone number are posted on her Johnny Gosch Foundation site at www.JohnnyGosch.com
