Release from former Oklahoma State Senator Charles Key, via APFN Apr 3, 2005:

A press conference will be held Tuesday, April 5, 11:30 am, at the Jesus statue on NW 5th and Harvey. Participants are REACH, an organization of survivors and family members of victims of the Oklahoma City Bombing, former Oklahoma State Representative Charles Key, founder of The Oklahoma Bombing Investigation Committee, and film producer Christopher Emery.

The purpose is to call on Congress to open hearings on the Oklahoma City Bombing and the U.S. Justice Department and FBI’s mis-handling of the investigation and trial. “58 of my friends died and they tried to kill me - I want everyone responsible to be held accountable,” said VZ Lawton, a survivor of the bombing who worked for HUD. “The Justice Department has continually refused to release the 24 surveillance videos that will show who was with McVeigh that morning. It’s a shame we have to go to Congress to make them release the videos. And we want them to run the 1,034 fingerprints against the FBI’s database to identify them also. It is an outrage that they did not try to find out who those fingerprints belonged to.”

The Justice Department failed to turn over several thousands of documents in the case over the past five years. They have also been criticized for failing to stop the bombing after receiving numerous warnings from undercover agents and informants. Congressman Dana Rohrabacher (R-CA) is considering opening hearings on the case. “Several top officials of the U.S.J.D. have lied to, ignored and patronized the people of Oklahoma City for the past ten years. They have presented nothing more than half-baked, error-riddled explanations that fail to hold to the basic standards of sound criminal investigative work. This is unacceptable. As U.S. citizens, we have no choice other than to work towards revealing the entire truth surrounding this case so our children and their children will know what really happened here. Why should any of us be asked to remember the deaths of the Oklahoma City bombing victims in a lie?” asked Chris Emery.

The FBI last week received embarrassing press yet again for failing to properly detect and secure evidence in Terry Nichols home. Nichols’ attorney Brian Hermanson speculated that the bomb making material found last week may have been planted there.

The group announced it is also sponsoring “The OKC Bombing: A Day of Truth ~ Ten Years Later” reception, dinner, and speakers forum to be held in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Tuesday, April 19th and Wednesday, April 20th, 2005. U.S. Congressman Bob Barr will be the keynote speaker for the special ten-year anniversary V.I.P event. Barr represented the 7th District of Georgia in the U.S. Congress from 1995 to 2003. In addition, he served as a senior member of the Judiciary Committee, as Vice-Chairman of the Government Reform Committee, and as an eight-year veteran of the Committee on Financial Services. [...]

It is very intriguing that former US Congressman Barr is going to be at this event.
