(Total411.info) -- Sept. 8 -- Louisiana Governor Kathleen Blanco's refusal to cede control of the National Guard to the White House will face another test Thursday as Vice-President Cheney descends upon Louisiana to "cut the red tape."

New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin now appears to have thrown in with the Bush police state and is attempting to order forcible gunpoint evacuations of New Orleans. However, Gov. Blanco, who maintains control of the National Guard, has refused to tell it to carry out such an inhuman, anti-American order.

Strongman Cheney is sure to ratchet up the pressure on Blanco for the White House's military takeover of New Orleans.

The last time Washington sent an hostile army to occupy New Orleans was in 1862. After Gen. Farragut seized New Orleans, one of the local ladies emptied her chamber pot on his head. Gov. Blanco would do well to channel that same spirit and keep Cheney from seizing New Orleans today.

Hopefully, those inventive holdouts in the French Quarter, left with no plumbing, won't have to move into action.
