Thi documentation should help build the case that many elements of the federal government knew just what the CIArab alleged "hijackers" were up to in the US before 9/11. Associated Press January 26, 2006: "[...]Judge Leonie M. Brinkema of Federal District Court granted part of a Jan. 20 defense motion for documents without waiting for the government's response.
"Several of the categories of information are so critical to the issues in this case that the court can address some of the requests without a response," Judge Brinkema wrote.
Granted Tuesday under seal, her order was released Wednesday after government censors blacked out about five lines of it.
Judge Brinkema ordered the government to turn over any threat assessments immediately, especially those completed in the year before the 2001 attacks.
Defense lawyers will also get all reports, cables, slides, talking points, memorandums and other documents about Mr. Moussaoui's arrest on immigration charges, a month before the attacks and about two hijackers, Khalid al-Midhar and Nawaq Alhazmi, whose presence in the United States was known to federal officials before the attacks.
