NYC mayor Bloomberg is not hapy with Larry "Pull It" Silverstein...
From NY1 News February 09, 2006: "Governor George Pataki wants developer Larry Silverstein to stay put at the World Trade Center site. It's a position that puts him at direct odds with Mayor Michael Bloomberg.
Governor Pataki is standing by the side of World Trade Center Site lease holder Larry Silverstein, despite Mayor Bloomberg's public push to substantially limit Silverstein's role in the rebuilding process.
"I don't see why that partnership can't continue and successfully build out the master site plan that Daniel Libeskind put in place, which is a brilliant plan," said the governor.
... The mayor wants Silverstein to give up control of rebuilding two towers, and he claims if Silverstein doesn't relinquish some power, the developer will run out of money, leaving the city with an unfinished site.
"The city does not want a construction site for 15 years. The city wants the eastern side of the land built out as expeditiously as possible, because that ties it to the rest of the city," said Bloomberg.
[...]
For Pataki, time is key, since he wants construction on the Freedom Tower underway before he leaves office at the end of the year, and, perhaps, embarks on a run for the White House. ----- .....---
