A number of members of the academic society have been taken aback by the effrontery of the antimethodological claim. Their position is neatly summarized in this recent communication to Dr. Jones from Dr. Morgan Reynolds (Prof. Emeritus, Texas A&M) which recently leaked into the blogosphere. : "Isn't the lack of independent verification of Steven's tests in harmony with our times? We have a faith-based administration remaking the world with faith-based policies. With Steven's assertions we have faith-based science. Who provided the testable material to Steven? What was the chain of custody for that material? Will similar material be provided by these same trustworthy sources to other experimentalists for verification? For now, Gerard (Holmgren) is entirely right: It's an argument from authority, we're supposed to trust the SJ Pied Piper. SJ is a sweet guy, a virtual choir boy, after all, right? Hmmmm.Caught in the middle is Jones' co-founder of Scholars for 9/11 Truth, Dr. James Fetzer (Prof. Emeritus, Minnesota-Duluth). Before he began studying 9/11, Fetzer made his reputation on his research into how the Zapruder film of the Kennedy assassination had been altered. Note that video encoding for broadcast and DVD is 90% compressed from the original AVI format captured by videocam and edited on computer. What is broadcast or copied by video recorder is NOT the same as what was on the videocam tape or computer harddrive. FAST MOVING objects routinely exhibit bizarre artifacts when transferred to 90% compressed videotape for broadcast. Fast text is especially a problem for computer encoding to handle without stuttering. "Lost frames" are not uncommon as unfragged harddrives skip around trying to keep up. Just this week I videotaped and edited a political candidate's SVHS videotape, for broadcast by major TV stations this week to 2-million voters. It's only 30-seconds long, but has an unexplained artifact frame stutter, hopefully only noticable to me.
