The orginal Northwoods document from 1962, later the blueprint for 9/11, featured a reccomendation by the Joint Chiefs of Staff to sabotage a NASA flight and blame it on imagined enemies as pretext for war.

The weather delays on Saturday and Sunday which conveniently pushed back the suttle launch to Independence Day were, of course, a farce. Sixty-year-old technology -- dropping dry ice into clouds -- would have cleared the skies sufficiently to allow for a launch. But this was not done.
