From Newsday, August 13, 2007: "Suffolk police yesterday identified a North Amityville man slain Friday night as Kwesi Amissah, 27, shot multiple times in front of a crowd of people outside a North Amityville Masonic lodge, but said they still didn't have a suspect in the shooting.
No one among the estimated 20 to 30 witnesses of the killing and neighbors of the Hollywood Lodge, a Masonic social club, have come forward with information, and cops continue to struggle to find the shooter without the public's cooperation, police said yesterday.
"There's not a lot of help from the community," said Sgt. Paul Dodorico.
The 6-foot, 200-pound man was found lying along the side of Rosewood Avenue across from the lodge around 11:35 p.m. Friday with multiple gunshot wounds to his torso, according to police.
Cops found no signs of a struggle or a fistfight before the unknown assailant killed Amissah. Police would not say how close the shooter was to the victim.[...]
An autopsy performed Saturday determined that Amissah didn't have alcohol or drugs in his system when he was shot, Dodorico said yesterday.
Police believe Amissah walked a half-mile from his Brewster Lane home to the lodge, and at some point went inside, although a man answering the phone at the lodge disputed that fact on Saturday.
The windowless Masonic lodge sits on the corner of Coolidge and Rosewood avenues in the heart of a busy neighborhood.[...]
